It does not make any adjustments until higher RPMs or WOT (Wide Open Throttle) are reached. It then increases the boost pressure slightly (within safe ECU limits) to provide a safe yet effective boost in torque. It barely affects fuel economy when activated and automatically deactivates itself at low RPMs, so normal driving will not affect fuel economy whatsoever. The ST9 MAX BOOST module contains a vehicle specific, custom programmed microprocessor. It communicates directly with the ECU through the factory boost pressure connector, so there’s no danger of damaging your vehicle! No resistor can do this!
Will it only work with Modded Vehicles?
The module is Stage 3, yet is is compatible with stock as well as modded vehicles. The microprocessor will detect engine characteristics via the factory boost port and adjust itself accordingly.
What is Stage 3?
The vehicle performance industry recognizes three tuning stages: Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3. Stage 1 is generally for stock vehicles and provides the smallest gains in performance and power. Stage 2 is generally for slightly modded vehicles and provides mid-range performance and power gains. Stage 3 is generally for highly modified vehicles and provides the most aggressive tuning performance and power. This module is Stage 3, yet it requires no mods to be installed before installation. It can also be used with modded vehicles as well. It operates within the safe ECU limits set forth by the vehicle manufacturer and this ensures it cannot cause vehicle damage.
What is turbo lag and what does turbo lag feel like?
Turbo lag is the period of time between pressing the gas pedal and feeling the power or ‘pull’ from a turbocharged engine. It is a delay which frustrates many turbocharged vehicle owners- but no more. What if my vehicle is Supercharged or Turbocharged?
This module is only compatible with 2011 and newer Mini Cooper 1.6L N18 Turbocharged Engines.
What if I already have a Power Programmer or Handheld Tuner installed?
No problem. This module will work with all aftermarket power programmers, tuners and OBD2 modules. However, you must have access to the boost sensor. The product must be connected to the boost sensor harness at all times in order to function.
What if I have an Automatic or Manual? Does it matter?
The module is compatible with both Automatic and Manual transmissions.
Will this void my warranty?
No! This module does not cause any damage, unlike most cheap competitors. This product will not void your warranty. The vehicle manufacturer cannot void your vehicle warranty due to aftermarket accessories. The module uses soft-patching technology and is completely safe and reversible. It leaves no footprint and cannot be detected once removed from the vehicle. It is plug and play.
Can this Damage my engine?
Since the ST9 MAX BOOST module only interfaces with the vehicle computer (ECU) via the boost sensor, it causes your vehicle’s computer to adjust itself to a more optimal fuel mixture and timing curve. This means you are fully protected by the built in safeguards of your computer. These performance chips have been tested over and over and are proven not to affect your vehicle’s engine or electrical system in any way, unlike cheap resistor scam chips.
